KAIZENX COMPETITIONS · K–12

Learn the skills. Build the team. Take on the challenge.

Every grade can participate in competition. KaizenX provides the learning and team-development system; selected teams may also pursue independent external programs when their requirements are met.

THE THREE-LEVEL MODEL

Three experiences—with three different owners.

This separation keeps the pathway easy to understand: KaizenX owns its curriculum and internal events, while every external provider controls its own official competition.

01
Designed and operated by KaizenX

KaizenX Skills Challenges

Short challenges inside courses help learners practice, demonstrate growth, and discover which competition pathways fit them.

  • No external registration required
  • Available across all grade bands
  • Builds readiness through guided practice
02
KaizenX team-development pathway

TekBotix Competition Teams

Prepared learners move into structured grade-band teams, coaching, scrimmages, judging preparation, and age-appropriate KaizenX events.

  • Defined roles and team commitments
  • Internal leagues, showcases and championships
  • Tek2Varsity alignment for advanced high-school teams
03
Governed by each outside provider

External Competitions

Eligible teams may register for independent programs such as FIRST when the program, season, staffing, budget, and team readiness align.

  • Provider rules and deadlines control
  • External charges may be separate
  • Entry or advancement is never guaranteed
THE LEARNER JOURNEY

A complete season moves from learning to evidence.

External competition is a possible destination—not the starting requirement.

WHERE FIRST FITS

FIRST is an external pathway—not the KaizenX competition system.

KaizenX may independently register, coach, and prepare eligible teams for FIRST programs. FIRST establishes the official annual challenges, registration, rules, event structure, scoring, judging, awards, and advancement requirements.

What does FIRST have to do with KaizenX?

It is one optional destination for prepared robotics teams. KaizenX can provide the instructors, practices, team management, facilities, and preparation that a registration fee alone does not provide.

KaizenX would manage

  • Instruction, coaching and team formation
  • Practices, safety and parent permissions
  • Shared equipment and internal scrimmages
  • Documentation, judging and event preparation
  • Transportation planning and family communication

FIRST would control

  • Official season theme and game manual
  • Team-registration and coach requirements
  • Event access, scoring and judging
  • Awards, qualification and advancement
  • FIRST branding and official competition materials
Grades K–8

FIRST LEGO League

LEGO-based engineering, coding, innovation projects and robot missions.

2026–27 registration varies by edition
Grades 7–12

FIRST Tech Challenge

Classroom-scale robots with autonomous and student-driven match play.

$350 team registration for 2026–27
Grades 9–12

FIRST Robotics Competition

Industrial-scale robots, complex builds, alliances and a substantial operating commitment.

$6,500 team registration for 2026–27
Provider-neutral by design

FIRST identifies 2026–27 as the final season of the current FIRST LEGO League program. KaizenX therefore maintains its own adaptable K–12 competition framework rather than depending on a single outside provider.

KAIZENX JUDGING FRAMEWORK

Performance matters—but it is not the only measure.

A common rubric creates consistency while allowing expectations to change by grade, domain, event type, and team role.

External events use their own official rubrics. The percentages shown here apply to KaizenX-designed competitions.

TUITION & EXTERNAL COSTS

KaizenX tuition and provider registration are not the same charge.

KaizenX tuition is designed to cover

  • Instructor and mentor time
  • Team coaching and scheduled practices
  • Standard shared equipment and materials
  • Internal scrimmages and judging preparation
  • Engineering evidence and family communication

Possible separately disclosed costs

  • External team and event registration
  • Premium components or major custom builds
  • Uniforms, travel, lodging and meals
  • Additional events or championship fees
  • Optional take-home equipment
INDEPENDENT PROVIDERS

External opportunities remain independently governed.

Families can review provider information directly. Current provider rules—not KaizenX summaries—control official eligibility and participation.
